What is Questionable?
Questionable is the first app by Emelia Smith on the atmosphere.
The premise is simple: ask questions, and hopefully people will answer them!
However, we plan to take questionable much further than platforms that came before it:
- We want to introduce the concept of interviews, both through the lens of a single interviewer and many, like the popular "ask me anything" format.
- We want interviews to be able to be published afterwards to websites, if possible.
- We want to support directed questions (like tumblr asks!).
- We want to support asking questions in communities, and getting answers from your community.
How do I signup?
You use the very same account you use with Bluesky or Blacksky, or any other atmospheric app.
We store your data on your personal data server. By asking and answering questions, you're not just building up our database, but your actual building up your own data. If questionable ever goes away or screws up badly, you still own your data and others can build alternative experiences.
When can I start using Questionable?
Unfortunately the only possible answer to this question is a vague answer for now: when it's ready.
Questionable is being built in Emelia's spare time, which is extremely limited, and is quite literally a side project. We are building in the open, and we've already made a lot of reusable code that has been used in other projects.
How will Questionable make money?
We're still trying to work that out, but one idea that we really like is providing paid communities where we host the community, but on your domain and matching your branding. Another idea, though this may be harder to pull off is placing a bounty on questions and paying out when you accept an answer. There's probably more ways to make money, but making money isn't a direct goal right now.
I will be happy if Questionable makes enough money to be self-sufficient and help enough people.
